The Bellevue Group of schools is governed by an education committee. The role of the committee is to ensure the very highest standards are being maintained across all of our schools.
Education Committee Chairman
Educated at Millfield School in Somerset, Steven comes from a teaching family and with over 20 years’ experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the group. In 2003, Steven became Assistant Head at Thamesmead School in Shepperton, where his responsibilities included IT strategy, learning and enrichment and community development, and in 2005 he went on to became Head at Gateway School, having completed an MA in Leadership and Management. Steven spent eight years at Gateway, before taking up his role as Bellevue Education's UK Schools Director.
As UK Schools Director, Steven supports Headteachers and their staff, allowing them to focus entirely on learning and development outcomes and instilling in every child a lasting love of learning.
Specialism: Leadership and Community
Mark has been Principal of Highgate Junior School since September 2002. He is also Director of Admissions for the whole school and Deputy Head of the Highgate Foundation.
He is a governor of a north London state primary school as well as serving as a governor at a Prep School in Kingston Upon Thames. Prior to Highgate he was Deputy Head Master at King’s College Junior School Wimbledon and before that Head of Liberal and General Studies at Dulwich College.
Mark studied Theology at Nottingham University, took an MA in English at King’s College London and PGCE at The London Institute of Education. He is married to Jane and they have two daughters, Rebecca (13) and Molly (10).
Specialism: Teaching and Learning
Jerry is an experienced education adviser. He gained an honours degree at Southampton University and followed this with an MA. As a teacher he wrote several text books before becoming a Science Adviser, an Ofsted inspector and the Attached Inspector for over a dozen primary and secondary schools.
Now Director of the Training and Learning Centre in Portsmouth, he is also a highly regarded member of the National Advanced Skills Teacher Assessment Agency and is very experienced in observing and judging high quality teaching and learning. He is a member of our Education Committee. Jerry also has his own education consultancy company specializing in leadership development.
Specialism: Pastoral Care and Early Years Foundation Stage
Christopher studied music and French at Birmingham and Bordeaux Universities and gained his PGCE in Bath. His teaching career, in both boarding and day schools, included the posts of Head of Modern Languages, Director of Music and Head of Maths. He has also held the positions of Head of Cricket and Hockey, Director of Marketing and Housemaster. His three headships, in both day and boarding schools, in the UK and beyond, covered an age range from 2 to 16. He has experience as a GCSE examiner in French and maths and has been a member of the Independent Schools Association’s Executive Council and the Independent Schools Teacher Induction Panel.
Christopher works as a Reporting Inspector, Early Years Lead Inspector and Lead Boarding Inspector with the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), covering an age range from birth to 18. He is also a member of ISI’s panel of trainers and consultants. As an accredited School Improvement Partner he worked with several primary schools, nurseries and a children’s centre in West Yorkshire. He is a music examiner with Trinity College London and a member of its Academic and Professional Standards Committee. His musical pursuits have included conducting various choirs, including the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, and he now sings as a cathedral lay clerk.
His experience and empathy make him a welcome advisor in many schools.
