Success for Brabyns Preparatory School at the ISA Drama Festival 2017

Posted on: 31 Mar 2017

Children from Brabyns Preparatory School are celebrating after winning a top prize in the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Drama Festival 2017.

Brabyns Preparatory School are National Champions in their category winning ‘The Devonside Prize’ for Best Infant Production for their performance of ‘The Proms’.

The Festival, whose Northern Heats were hosted by the Hammond School, in Chester, on 19th March, 2017, is held annually and aims to enable ISA member schools from across the country to compete against each other for a variety of awards.

Lee Sanders, Headteacher at Brabyns Preparatory School said there was great excitement and pride at the school for this wonderful achievement.  He said: “I would like to congratulate the children of Year 2 on their outstanding performance.  They were competing against schools who specialise in drama and still managed to win. What a fantastic achievement, we are so proud of each and every one of them."

"I would also like to thank our Music and Drama specialist Mr Westall.  Without his hard work and dedication our pupils would not have the skills needed to be able to participate so confidently,” he added.

“We pride ourselves on the high standard of music and drama at Brabyns, as will be on show when we perform Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits at the New Mills Theatre on April 27th and 28th.  It is therefore so lovely for us to be recognised nationally by winning this prestigious award.”

Festival adjudicator, Vivienne Cunningham, said: “It was a pleasure to adjudicate the ISA Drama Festival. The enthusiasm and creativity of the casts was excellent and it was encouraging to watch such innovative and challenging drama.”
