Sherborne House School pupil wins Christmas Card Competition

Posted on: 14 Dec 2017

Findlay Robertson, a Year 6 pupil at Sherborne House School, has scooped first prize in a Christmas Card competition.

Each year, Winchester and Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine holds a special competition among primary school age children across his constituency to design his official Christmas card.

Findlay's winning design shows robins exchanging a Christmas gift (shown below) and was selected from hundreds of designs submitted by local school children. Nine other pupils at Sherborne House School were finalists in the competition.

Steve Brine said: "This was a bumper year for entries and I am hugely grateful to all busy teachers for making time to allow the children to take part. Many thanks also to our sponsors, Theatre Royal Winchester, Marwell Wildlife and Winchester Discovery Centre who once more have been so kind and accommodating with their time and resources.

My congratulations go to Findlay, who was thrilled with his success and is a lovely lad with a very big heart as he showed with his design which so captures the real spirit of Christmas. He’s a real credit to his parents and Sherborne House.”

Commenting on the competition, Headteacher Heather Hopson-Hill said: "We were delighted to be invited once again to participate in this local art competition. We are so proud of all the children who submitted designs. They worked extremely hard to create eye-catching and thoughtful pieces, and I hope they are all as proud of their achievements as we are.”
