Sam Selby appointed as Education Director of Bellevue Education

Posted on: 26 Sep 2016

Bellevue Education is delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Selby as Education Director.

Sam’s teaching career spans twenty years with her experience encompassing state maintained and the independent sectors. During her first ten years of teaching, Sam gained valuable experience working in Key Stage 2 at two very different state maintained schools: one graded outstanding in Haringey, North London, which Sam worked at for seven years; and one requiring improvement in Rotherham, where Sam spent three years.

Returning back to London in 2006, Sam joined Norfolk House School, working in Key Stage 1 and as Head of IT. After two years, Sam was appointed Assistant Head where she took on the role of Head of Teaching, Learning and Assessment. Sam was responsible for developing the 11+ syllabus and embedding personalised learning across the whole school with a focus on facilitating learning. Sam was instrumental in helping the school achieve Outstanding in its 2011 inspection report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate before taking on the role of Headteacher in September 2011.

As Education Director, Sam will spend the majority of her time schools based supporting headteachers and their staff with specific projects designed to enable the sharing of excellent practice across the group.

Sam is very much looking forward to encouraging positive links between all of the UK preparatory schools within the group. “The emphasis Bellevue Education places on the quality of teaching and learning is something I have always been extremely passionate about,” said Sam. “A large part of my time will be spent schools based and my initial project will involve developing video technology as a tool for teachers to reflect on the best elements of their practice and to enhance it further with an emphasis on coaching for development.

I very much look forward to learning more about each Bellevue school, working with the exceptional Heads and teachers within our schools and sharing excellent practice across the group.”

Commenting on Sam’s appointment, Steven Wade, Schools Director of Bellevue Education, said:

“I am delighted that Sam has taken on this new role at Bellevue. I have witnessed first hand her passion for and commitment to education and I know that our schools will benefit hugely from her support and expertise.”
