Pupil at Forest Preparatory School wins national art competition

Posted on: 17 Jan 2018

A Year 3 pupil from Forest Preparatory School has been awarded first prize in a national colouring competition for school children.

Eva, aged 7, was selected as the winner from more than 5,000 entrants in a competition organised by STEADTLER for World Colouring Day 2017.

As well as STAEDTLER stationery goodies, Eva also won £250 worth of STAEDTLER products for the School and an art workshop with renowned British artist and caricaturist Picasso Griffiths.  Picasso visited the School last week to show the children how to sketch.

Mrs Eley, Year 3 teacher at Forest Preparatory School, said: “Picasso was brilliant with the children and they created some lovely pieces of work.  We all learned so much and had a lot of fun as well.  Eva and the school were also given a selection of art materials which will be put to very good use.  It was a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience.”

The theme for the 2017 competition was ‘Bright Future.’  STAEDTLER Teacher’s Club designed two competition sheets which asked Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils to pick up a pencil and portray their futures through art, colour and imagination.

Lisa James, Education Marketing Executive, STAEDTLER UK said: “Picasso and I thoroughly enjoyed the art workshop at Forest Preparatory School. The children were so engaged and enthusiastic, taking on board all the hints and tips provided during the session. They produced outstandingly detailed illustrations and asked thought provoking questions throughout.”

STAEDTLER Teachers’ Club UK is a free online platform for primary school teachers to find and access free product samples, curriculum-linked teaching resources and fun competitions to keep pupils busy. World Kids Colouring Day is an annual competition, providing the platform for budding artists to express their personality on paper.
