Olympic Swimmer James Guy Visits Former Primary School

Posted on: 18 Feb 2016

Despite enjoying success in both the World and Commonwealth Championships, British swimmer James Guy obviously hasn’t forgotten his roots, as he recently took time out of his hectic schedule to pay a visit to pupils at his former primary school, Forest Preparatory School in Cheshire.

After enjoying a tour of the School, James took the time to meet with the pupils, taking questions, signing autographs, and posing for pictures with his excited fans.

A recent guest on BBC’s Question of Sport, James is certainly making waves in the swimming world. He won two Gold medals in the 2015 World Aquatic Championship, is European and World Junior Champion in the 4 x 200 metre Freestyle Relay, and even holds the World Junior record in this event. This summer, James will be representing Britain at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Rick Hyde, Headteacher at Forest Preparatory School, said, “James is a huge fan of Forest School, particularly Mrs Eley! He contacted us to ask if he could visit and meet some of our pupils, and of course we were delighted to welcome him back. The children were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet him, and were inspired by his story. We are extremely proud of James and wish him every success in the 2016 Olympics.”
