ISI sends Edenhurst’s Early Years Department to the top of the class

Posted on: 24 Jan 2014

Following an Early Years inspection in December by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), the inspection report rated Edenhurst Prep School’s Early Years provision as outstanding.

According to the report, “The overall quality and standards of the Early Years Foundation Stage are outstanding.”

ISI Inspectors operate under the Ofsted framework, which is approved by the Department for Education.

Inspectors also noted that “Children under the age of three make excellent progress for their age in personal, social and emotional development, and in communication and language skills, due to the close bond formed with key adults.”

The school, which currently has 207 pupils, has recently undergone a building development programme which included the creation of a new Early Years classroom for preschool children, to add to the purpose built nursery that opened in 2005.

Head Teacher, Mr. Nick Copestick, was delighted with the result and paid tribute to staff and pupils.

“This was a rigorous inspection of every facet of our Early Years provision and revealed the department in its true and vibrant colours. The report positively radiates praise and all the staff and children deserve commendation for an excellent overall performance.”

Mrs Elizabeth Hodgkinson, Reception class teacher and Head of Early Years at Edenhurst, said:

“"All of the staff were thrilled with the outstanding result of the inspection. It is a credit to the way everyone works as a team, putting the needs of the children first."
