ISI inspection sends Edenhurst Preparatory School to top of the class

Posted on: 15 May 2017

Pupils, staff and parents at Edenhurst Preparatory School in Newcastle-under-Lyme are celebrating, after receiving the best results possible in their latest inspection.

The co-educational, independent school underwent an integrated educational quality and focused compliance inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), in March. ISI Inspectors operate under the Ofsted framework, approved by the Department for Education.

According to the report’s key findings, “the quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements is excellent” and “the quality of the pupils’ personal development is excellent.”  This is the highest grade a school can be awarded under the ISI Inspection scheme.

The report notes that pupils “make excellent progress as they move through the school”, “feel valued, safe, well supported and happy within the school community”, and “are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their education.”

Inspectors also carried out a compliance inspection of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in Edenhurst, and found that “the overall effectiveness of the early years provision is outstanding.”

Other highlights of the EYFS Quality and Standards report include the following:

Edenhurst Prep School currently has 214 pupils and welcomes children from the ages of three months to 11 years.

Headmaster, Nick Copestick, was delighted with the results of the recent inspection.

“We are thrilled with the results of our latest ISI inspection, which is a true testament to the commitment and enthusiasm of all our staff and pupils. We are committed to working in partnership with parents to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment to enable every child to achieve their potential, and I am delighted that this is reflected in the inspector’s comments.”
