Forest Park pupils meet Manchester City Football Club’s Ilkay Gundogan

Posted on: 17 Jun 2016

Pupils at Forest Park Preparatory School recently took part in a special training session and academy tour, organised by Manchester City Football Club’s City in the Community project. The event concluded with pupils meeting Manchester City's new £20 million pound signing, Ilkay Gundogan.

Pupils in Year 5 and 6 enjoyed testing their skills on the pitch, taking part in a range of activities including shooting, dribbling, jumping, agility and passing.

Forest Park’s Sports Coordinator, Amanda Booth, said: “It is great for all pupils at Forest Park to have the opportunity to take part in activities such as this on a regular basis. All of the pupils enjoyed visiting the MCFC academy and taking part in a variety of activities to build skills and use them in team sports. Providing the opportunity for the pupils to meet Ilkay Gundogan was the icing on the cake! Thank you to everyone at City in the Community for a fantastic day.”

Year 6 pupil, Micah Walukiewicz, said:  I thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and was privileged to meet IIkay Gundogan. Thank you to all involved for this amazing opportunity which I will never forget.”

Pupils at Forest Park receive regular coaching from Manchester City Community Coaches as part of the school’s Sports curriculum, and are looking forward to taking part in other workshops organised by City in the Community’s School Sports Programme, in the future.
