Elmhurst School Staff Pantomime raises £1,000 for Malawi charity

Posted on: 05 Apr 2019

As part of the school’s 150th Anniversary celebrations, staff at Elmhurst School for Boys took to the stage to present two special performances of Cinderella, to raise funds for the Joshua Orphan and Community Care (JOCC) organisation in Malawi.

The usual pantomime mix of slapstick comedy, audience participation, and local references, made for unforgettable performances for the packed houses.

Through tickets sales, sales of refreshments and generous audience donations, over £1,000 was raised to go towards resources for the JOCC, including stationery and basic Maths and English Resources. The donations will be presented to the organisation by two members of staff from Elmhurst School who are visiting the JOCC this month, to volunteer their support to the charity’s projects, helping vulnerable children and their families and communities, in Malawi.

Head Teacher, Tony Padfield commented, "It was amazing to see what could be achieved with great staff collaboration. We are delighted with the amount of money raised and would like to thank all of the parents and pupils for their generosity and support."
