Bellevue Education’s Emerging Leaders Programme

Posted on: 24 Feb 2017 by Headteacher

I write this week’s blog on a blustery day having just returned from running a day of workshops at Bellevue Education's central offices in Hampton Court. One of the benefits of being part of the group is the opportunity for staff from different schools to come together for training and development; our Emerging Leaders Programme is one aspect of the work that we do across the group to promote learning at all levels of the organisation.

Since its inauguration two years ago, individual staff from Skippers have been involved in this programme with the content adjusted and revised according to the needs of those on the course - much like we do for the pupils in the school. The programme encourages those teachers in middle management roles to reflect upon various aspects of leadership and as they continue to move forward on their career path.

My sessions today were centred around building capacity for growth and improvement - within ourselves, within those that we lead and within schools as a whole. I was hugely impressed with the engagement and talent on show and encouraged by the organisation's commitment to fostering the next generation of school leaders as they share practice, reflect upon challenges in their roles, explore solutions and find new ways forward.

All of which has a direct impact on the pupils of course, as our emerging leaders return with fresh ideas and knowledge for developing their own teams and areas of responsibility. After all, the best schools are those that engage in learning and development for each individual at all levels.
